With the BRABUS XLP 900 6×6 SUPERBLACK, the luxury manufacturer from Bottrop is now raising this model series to a new and even more exclusive level as part of the “Monochrome Design” series “XLP” and “6×6”. In order to combine these two concepts in a fascinating super sports car, the engineers, technicians and designers at Brabus, which has the status of a vehicle manufacturer at the Federal Motor Transport Authority, have developed a convincing concept that has been implemented with the greatest care and professionalism in one of the most spectacular vehicles of the highest quality transformed in the market.
The Brabus steel module for the chassis was developed using the latest design and simulation software. It is designed in such a way that the high torsional rigidity of the standard frame is fully retained. Instead of the standard rear axle, this massive new component accommodates two further BRABUS special developments - the two rear axles. They are designed as independent wheel suspension and, like the front wheel suspension, use the portal axle concept. For this purpose, Brabus has developed special wheel carriers with an integrated portal gearbox, which increase the ground clearance to 47.3 centimeters, which is significantly higher than that of the standard chassis. The components required for this are milled from solid pieces of high-strength aluminum.
To match this individual design, the Brabus chassis engineers developed a titanium-coated special aluminum chassis together with technology partner KW. Not only is it extremely strong, but it's also carefully tuned for its weight, high center of gravity, and six-wheel construction. Damping rate can be adjusted from the cockpit. The driver's cab with a new rear wall and heated window is bolted to the extended frame. Behind it is the also custom-made pick-up loading area, which is clad with visible carbon elements and thus visually stretches the driver's cab backwards. Due to the tandem rear axles, it had to be built longer and thus offers even more usable space for cargo.
BRABUS carbon production manufactured new bedside tables with integrated storage boxes for the XLP 6×6. The matching, robust loading area was made of sheet steel. It features a soft teak bed lining with two Brabus logos and airline rails for tying down cargo. The laterally pivoting tailgate is also made of steel. This mix of materials gives the pickup bed maximum strength and resilience while ensuring a perfect fit. To complete the pickup look, a double roll bar sits atop the truck bed. Finished in matte black, of course, it features two powerful rear-facing LED lights for easy loading and unloading of the pickup bed in the dark.
Of course, the extravagant Brabus pickup design also includes six tailor-made wheels. They were specially developed for the eight-hole grid of the portal axles and manufactured using the latest forging and machining technology. With their eight solid spokes, the Brabus Monoblock HD alloy wheels, which were painted black for this super sports car from the "Monochrome Design" series, easily withstand the high wheel loads that arise particularly in off-road use. They are mounted on all axles under the wide extensions with visible carbon fiber extensions of the BRABUS XLP 900 6×6 SUPERBLACK in size 9.5Jx22. Brabus chose 325/55 R 22 all-terrain tires as the optimum equipment.
The outstanding off-road capabilities go hand in hand with an exciting design in the best off-road manner. The fascination of the BRABUS XLP 900 6×6 SUPERBLACK lies not only in the pickup body and the custom chassis with six wheels, but also in the use of carbon with a visible structure and a high-gloss sealed surface. The front view is dominated by the Brabus fascia, derived from the WIDESTAR widebody version for the current G-Class. Two large air intakes framed by visible carbon inserts supply cooling air to the radiators in the front and the front brakes. In addition, the Brabus front component integrates a robust brush guard and a winch with a cable pull of 4,500 kilograms (9,920 lbs.). The face of the super sports car is also characterized by the carbon radiator grille and the extra-wide fender flares with carbon extensions.
The formula for this engine has decades of tradition at Brabus: More cubic capacity means more power! To convert the V8 engine of the G 63 to the BRABUS ROCKET 900 V8 biturbo To convert the specification, it is first completely dismantled and then extensively modified. With the help of the in-house high-tech machine park, the cylinder bore is enlarged to 84 millimeters (3.3 inches). The cylinders are equipped with specially forged pistons that have a modified profile for optimized combustion. Forged and precision-balanced high-performance connecting rods connect them to a precision-balanced crankshaft that has been milled from solid and has a stroke that has been extended to exactly 100 millimeters. These measures increase displacement from the standard 3,982 cc to 4,407 cc (243 to 269 cu in).

But that alone would not be enough to achieve the goal of increasing output by 231 kW / 315 hp (310 hp) compared to the standard engine. The newly designed supercharging system also plays a decisive role here: Two BRABUS special turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and a tailor-made core component with reinforced axial bearings generate a maximum boost pressure of 1.4 bar, which is also accompanied acoustically by two BRABUS BoostXtra adapters. They produce a rousing blow-off sound when the driver takes their foot off the accelerator.
The enormous effort in the development and production of this high-end engine is reflected in an unsurpassed performance: an output of 662 kW / 900 hp (888 hp) at a low 6,200 rpm is just as much a standard for a pickup as the mighty Peak torque of 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft) is already available at 2,900 rpm. This value is electronically limited to 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) in the vehicle. With this engine in the front, the BRABUS XLP 900 6×6 SUPERBLACK delivers driving performance that you would hardly expect from a vehicle in this category: the super sports car accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.2 seconds. Due to the high vehicle weight, the top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph).
