Great Wall Motor (GWM), a leading international automotive manufacturer, is thrilled to introduce the GWM WEY 03 to the European market, marking a significant milestone in the company's product portfolio expansion. The vehicle, formerly known as the WEY COFFEE 02, will officially debut in Rome with an exclusive test drive event, offering automotive journalists the opportunity to experience the plug-in hybrid SUV firsthand.
Designed with passenger comfort in mind, the GWM WEY 03 features a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The hybrid system incorporates high-performance lithium-ion batteries from SVOLT, a GWM subsidiary specializing in developing and producing batteries and battery systems for electric vehicles. The battery's storage capacity is 34 kWh, resulting in an electric range of 136 km.
Thus, the GWM WEY 03 is the perfect bridge to all-electric driving for those customers who still require the peace of mind of an additional combustion engine to enjoy relaxed everyday driving. The battery, with a storage capacity of 34 kWh, can be charged with an output of up to 50 kW direct current, making it one of the fastest in the PHEV segment.
For more demanding journeys and to meet the driving preferences of European drivers, the engine was carefully adapted. The European variant features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 150 kW / 204 hp coupled with a nine-speed transmission. The system output of the plug-in hybrid drive with AWD is 325 kW / 442 hp, and the maximum torque is 685 Nm. With this output, the GWM WEY 03 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 230 km/h. According to the WLTP standard, the average fuel consumption of the engine is a very efficient 0.5 l/100 km, resulting in CO2 emissions of just 15 g/km.

Compared to its sibling, the GWM WEY 05, the GWM WEY 03 is about 20 cm shorter and 7cm narrower. Thanks to its 2WD entry version, it enters a price segment markedly below the GWM WEY 05. However, the AWD luxury trim version is equipped with a drivetrain just as powerful as the one used in its larger sibling, making the GWM WEY 03 a particularly dynamic vehicle.
