Highly motivated, Porsche Penske Motorsport travels to the third round of the North American IMSA series in Long Beach.
12-04-2023 10:48 - MOTORSPORT
After the dramatic 12-hour race in Sebring, the works team is aiming for a top result with the Porsche 963 on the west coast of the USA. The contrasts could hardly be greater: After the two longest races of the season, the shortest one is now on the program on the 3.167-kilometer street circuit - the race as part of the IndyCar Grand Prix weekend lasts just over 100 minutes. Qualifying is of particular importance: overtaking opportunities are few and far between on the Long Beach Street Circuit and under optimal conditions, the teams only make one single pit stop.
For the Porsche Penske Motorsport works team, the four regular IMSA drivers will take to the steering wheels of the two Porsche 963 in the GTP class. Briton Nick Tandy and Frenchman Mathieu Jaminet will share the number 6 car. Australian Matt Campbell and Brazilian Felipe Nasr drive the sister car with starting number 7. In the GTD-Pro class, the Austrian Klaus Bachler and Patrick Pilet from France share the number 9 Pfaff Motorsports 911 GT3 R. In the GTD category, Kelly-Moss with Riley competes with two examples of the Porsche with up to 416 kW (565 hp). Car number 91 will be driven by Alan Metni from the USA and Dutchman Kay van Berlo as selected drivers from Porsche North America. The number 92 of the customer team from the US state of Wisconsin is shared by the American Alec Udell and Jeroen Bleekemolen from the Netherlands. At Wright Motorsports, the two Americans Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman are the regular drivers of the Porsche with starting number 77. AO Racing is sending PJ Hyett from the USA and Sebastian Priaulx from Britain to the starting line. Because of its eye-catching dinosaur design, their bright green 911 GT3 R with the number 80 is also called "Rexy".
