The Porsche customer teams SSR Performance and Team 75 Bernhard field three 911 GT3 R in the DTM (German Touring Car Masters). This is the first time that racing vehicles from the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer will be used at all eight events with a total of 16 races. The season will kick off next weekend with two races in Portimão. The teams and drivers prepared for the season opener in Portugal with extensive test drives in Hockenheim and on the 4.653 kilometer long Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. The season traditionally ends at the beginning of October at the Hockenheimring, around 100 kilometers south of Frankfurt.
The SSR Performance team from Munich is entering the DTM for the 2022 season after winning titles in the ADAC GT Masters. The team led by Stefan Schlund sends two of the over 500 hp Porsche 911 GT3 R into the race. Works driver Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium will be driving the number 92 car, while Norwegian Dennis Olsen will drive the number 94 sister car. SSR Performance had already completed a guest start in the DTM last season. Team 75 Bernhard also comes from the ADAC GT Masters. The team of Porsche brand ambassador Timo Bernhard relies on the services of works driver Thomas Preining from Austria in the number 24 car. The 23-year-old already knows the Rhineland-Palatinate team from his appearances in the GT Masters in 2021.
