In tomorrow's Hyperpole, six Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE-Pro and GTE-Am classes will fight for the best starting positions for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The one-hour qualification on Wednesday evening was completed by the works team with drivers Kévin Estre from France and Gianmaria Bruni from Italy in third and sixth place in the hard-fought GTE Pro category. The Belgian Dries Vanthoor also made it into the top 6 with the nine-eleven of the customer team HubAuto Racing and thus entered the shootout on Thursday evening (August 19, from 9:30 p.m. CEST). In the GTE-Am class, the identical vehicles from the Dempsey-Proton Racing, GR Racing and Project 1 teams finished in first, second and fifth place.
At the beginning of the one-hour race for times on the traditional 13.626-kilometer circuit in France, Kévin Estre lit a veritable fireworks display at the wheel of starting number 92. On his very first fast lap, the local hero set a new lap record for GTE vehicles in 3: 46.779 minutes. This brand was then undercut again by both Ferraris. Estre shares the 911 RSR in the race with works driver colleague Neel Jani from Switzerland and the Dane Michael Christensen. The Italian Gianmaria Bruni also qualified the second works 911 RSR for the Hyperpole. His fellow drivers in the race next weekend are Richard Lietz from Austria and the Frenchman Frédéric Makowiecki.
