With its expressive design, the revised Q8 represents the sporty, elegant SUV coupé of the four rings - and at the same time the modern design language. With its reduced shape, generous surfaces and clear volumes, the Q8 paints a dynamic picture. The short overhangs and long wheelbase create sporty, elegant proportions that can be emphasized with striking exterior colors and wheels.
The unmistakably powerful and upright Audi Singleframe in octagon design now impresses with vertical inserts. These are designed in a teardrop shape in the basic exterior, in an L shape in the S line exterior package and in the SQ8 TFSI. This makes it clear at first glance that it is one of Audi's top models and that it is clearly different from the A models. The Q8's self-confident appearance is underlined by the new and distinctively designed air inlets, which are clearly integrated into the basic architecture.
Audi has consistently reduced decorative elements in order to give the vehicle an even clearer, purist design. In order to be able to distinguish the base, S line exterior package and S model at first glance, areas in the front bumper, the door top strips and the diffuser in the base model are contrasted in color, which underlines the robust off-road look. New for all Audi Q8 engines is an exhaust system with fully-fledged and visually appealing tailpipes. The S line exterior package is based even more closely on the SQ8 TFSI and stands out thanks to the clearly emphasized side air inlets in the front bumper.
The Singleframe impresses with its unique color scheme. The black and black plus styling packages are optionally available, which add striking accents to the exterior in the area of the Audi Singleframe, the trim strips on the side windows and the bumpers at the front and rear. In addition, the Singleframe mask is finished in high-gloss black. The innovative headlights with HD Matrix LED technology and additional laser light as well as the digital daytime running lights positioned on the upper horizontal edge give the Q8 an even more confident expression. In conjunction with the digital OLED rear lights, which are available for the first time on the Q8, the upscale character of the model becomes even clearer. At the rear, an LED light strip connects together with a black, High-gloss cover with integrated Audi rings, the digital OLED rear lights across the entire width of the car. The Audi Q8 carries the new, modern corporate identity. Specifically, these are the now two-dimensional rings that the Q8 e-tron presented for the first time. They impress visually with even more precision. Instead of chrome, the new four rings are presented in contrasting white and black; as part of an optional package, the white of the rings gives way to a dark gray, which is visually similar to high-gloss black. The B-pillar of the Q8 is now also intended for the placement of the model, derivative and technology designation.
The range opens with the 45 TDI quattro, a 3-liter diesel that offers 170 kW (231 hp) of power and a generous torque of 500 Newton meters. The plateau is available from 1,500 to 3,000 revolutions. From a standstill, the Audi Q8 45 TDI reaches the 100 km/h mark in 7.1 seconds. The top speed is 226 km/h. This unit is followed by the 50 TDI quattro. The more powerful expansion stage produces 210 kW (286 hp) and delivers 600 Newton meters of torque. This means that the large SUV accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 241 km/h. The Audi Q8 55 TFSI has a 6-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of three liters and direct injection that produces 250 kW (340 hp). In the wide speed range from 1,370 to 4,500 revolutions, it develops a maximum torque of 500 Newton meters. The turbocharged petrol engine accelerates the Audi Q8 from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. It reaches its top speed at an electronically limited 250 km/h. All V6 engines in the Audi Q8 work with an 8-speed tiptronic, the quattro permanent all-wheel drive and the mild hybrid system, which can reduce consumption in customer operation by up to 0.5 liters per 100 kilometers. Its most important components are a lithium-ion battery and a belt starter generator (RSG), which supplies the SUV coupe's 48-volt main electrical system with power. When decelerating, the RSG enables recuperation power of up to eight kilowatts and feeds this into the battery. Between 55 and 160 km/h, the Q8 can cruise with the engine off for up to 40 seconds if the driver lifts off the accelerator. The RSG then restarts the six-cylinder quickly and very conveniently. The start-stop range starts at 22 km/h.
Prices for the 45 TDI quattro start at 86,700 euros, the 50 TDI quattro costs 89,700 euros. The 55 TFSI quattro costs 89,900 euros, while the SQ8 TFSI starts at 119,500 euros.
