The Kia EV6 electric crossover has been designed with a class-leading level of safety and comfort, including an advanced suite of driver assistance systems (ADAS). The innovative high-tech functions of the EV6 reduce many of the dangers and stresses of driving, protect the occupants and other road users and make every journey a truly relaxing and intuitive experience.
To ensure safety and comfort on the motorway, the EV6 is equipped with Kia's latest Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) package. With the help of radars around the vehicle, the system can help the driver to maintain a set distance and a set speed to the vehicle in front, while the technology of the Lane Tracking Assistant (LFA) centers the vehicle in its lane. Navigation-based intelligent cruise control with cornering control (NSCC-C) allows the system to reduce vehicle speed through corners and reset the speed as soon as conditions permit.
If a neighboring vehicle is driving in the immediate vicinity, HDA 2 helps by adapting the path of the EV6 and avoiding possible collision risks. Changing lanes is now easier than ever. With the driver's hands on the steering wheel and above a certain speed, the car is automatically steered into the corresponding lane by clicking the indicator lever.
The EV6 has a Blind Spot View Monitor (BVM) and Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assistant (BCA) to ensure a safe lane change is performed every time. BVM acts as a second set of eyes, eliminating the driver's left and right blind spots by displaying a high-resolution view within the EV6's 12.3-inch fully digital instrument. BCA warns the driver of approaching vehicles with radar sensors and activates the brakes during lane change maneuvers if there is a risk of collision.
Driving safely at intersections, especially those with multiple lanes, can often be a stressful experience for many drivers. Kia's Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) now includes functions for turning and crossing intersections, which are designed to provide maximum preventive safety when entering intersections. If the turn signal of the EV6 is activated, the system warns the driver if there is a risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle. A warning is also issued if there is a danger from vehicles approaching from the left or right when the driver is driving straight ahead through an intersection. If any of the risks increase, the system warns the driver and automatically applies the brakes to avoid a collision.
The key to vehicle safety is the ability to see and be seen. To provide the best lighting level, the Kia EV6 features the new Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS), a technology that allows each LED to shine independently for a precise lighting experience. IFS enables the driver to drive with permanent high beam without dazzling oncoming traffic. A front view camera with vehicle recognition technology automatically dims or brightens each individual LED, improves the driver's view of the future and at the same time protects oncoming traffic from glare in real time.
Parking and other potentially tricky maneuvers are made easier with Surround View Monitor (SVM). Cameras show a 360-degree view around the car, with the display conveniently located on the EV6's infotainment screen.
Reversing from confined spaces is also safer thanks to the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA). When reversing, this high-tech system detects oncoming vehicles that are approaching from both sides. If a possible collision is detected, the system automatically brakes the vehicle.
For those really tight parking spaces, drivers can use the EV6's Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) system to make parking completely easier. RSPA is a function that enables the vehicle to park autonomously, regardless of whether the driver is in the vehicle or not. Using surround view cameras and ultrasonic sensors, the EV6 can mark a parking space of the appropriate size and automatically steer it into the parking space, with automatic control of gas, brakes and gears. In addition, RSPA can park the vehicle in both parallel and parallel parking bays.
After parking and should the rear passengers open the doors to get out, Kia's Safe Exit Assist (SEA) system automatically issues a warning and locks the door if a vehicle approaching from behind is detected in the EV6's blind spot - the risk collision and increases safety at the end of a journey.
For additional convenience, the EV6 also has the Smart Power tailgate from Kia. If you insert the Smart Key of the EV6 and approach the rear of the vehicle, the system recognizes the key and opens the tailgate automatically.
