World premiere: The Volkswagen ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo are the first purely electric buses and vans in Europe. They will be launched in the first European countries in the autumn of this year; Advance sales are already planned for May. At launch, the European versions will start with a 77 kWh battery (gross energy content: 82 kWh). It supplies power to a 150 kW electric motor that drives the rear axle. The charging power when using alternating current is 11 kW. The charging capacity increases to up to 170 kW via a CCS plug on a DC fast charging station; the battery is charged from 5 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes. Like all models of the ID. family from Volkswagen, the new ID. Buzz and ID. Technically, Buzz Cargo is based on the group's modular electric drive system (MEB).
Technically, the new series is based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) from the Volkswagen Group. Both IDs Buzz versions launch in 2022 with a high-voltage lithium-ion battery offering a net energy content of 77 kWh (gross 82 kWh). With its twelve modules, the battery system supplies a 150 kW electric motor, which is integrated into the rear axle and also drives it.
In the current configuration of both ID. Buzz models, the top speed is electronically limited to 145 km/h. The fact is that the new ID. Buzz is a very agile vehicle. On the one hand, the e-machine builds up its maximum torque of 310 Nm from a standing start. On the other hand, this dynamic component is accompanied by a very low body center of gravity, since the battery is located far down in the sandwich floor. Both versions of the ID. Buzz with a power of up to 170 kW of energy; the battery is charged from 5 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes.
